"Bedouin Arabians, defined as those that can be reasonably assumed to be descended entirely from horses bred in the Arabian desert by Bedouin tribes. The organization's by-laws require that the roster of horses eligible for AL KHAMSA ‘will not be altered except by a three-fourths affirmative vote by those present and voting at two successive annual meetings, provided that notice of any proposed change shall be furnished to the National Chairman in the same manner as an ammendment to these by-laws,' i.e., 30 days prior to the national meeting. ‘The burden of proof that a horse or source of horses is elegible for inclusion in AL KHAMSA shall be on the person(s) who makes the request for an ammendment to include said horse or source of horses. Such proof shall include, but not be limited to, a complete pedigree (with breeder's names, foaling dates of all horses involved) back to the Bedouin tribes, the name(s) of the tribes, and circumstances surrounding his/her/their acquisition, from the bedouin tribe(s), and any further information that the Board of Directors feel is essential to show acceptable proof of authenticity.'" From Al Khamsa Arabians, 1983
All the Al Khamsa Arabians at Loro Verde have had their pedigrees carefully checked and re-checked using the Pedigree Index of Al Khamsa Arabians. Any foals resulting from two of my Al Khamsas may be considered Al Khamsa themselves. Loro Verde is proud to be breeding several distinct lines of Al Khamsa Arabians, for preservation, show and racing:
Please note that not all Al Khamsa Arabian horses are "Straight Egyptian" and not all "Straight Egyptian" Arabian horses are Al Khamsa! For those wishing "straight Egyptian" foals, you should stick to horses designated EAO, Babson, and Babson plus Sirecho and/or *Roda. *Turfa was not considered Egyptian, nor are the Desert lines or the Davenports.
Most of our Al Khamsa horses can also be considered Blue List. We have a small handful of BLUE STAR Qualified Broodmares (No recorded Mu'niqi blood.) For a model to be considered BLUE STAR Qualified, he must have two BLUE STAR or two BLUE STAR Qualified parents. As we have no BLUE STAR Qualified stallions standing at this point, we can gladly supply you with a list of real BLUE STAR Qualified stallions that may be bred to our BLUE STAR Qualified mares. (These BLUE STAR Qualified mares may, of course, be bred to Blue List/Al Khamsa stallions to result in a Blue List/Al Khamsa foal.) All horses have also had their strains listed, in the event that other model horse breeders are practicing strain breeding.
